How long does it take to sell a used book on Amazon usually?

October 14, 2011 - 9:05 pm 1 Comment

I just launched my seller’s account. My book is already online for a week by now. I wonder whether I should lower the price…
It is a schoolbook for undergraduates

A few things to consider:

1. The price. Check to see what the lowest price is. If your book is listed as anything but "Like New" and there is a "Like New" listing cheaper, you might want to lower the price.

2. The subject of the book. If its a schoolbook, you might not sell it right away if its a subject that isn’t really popular. If its a novel, it will just take someone wanting to buy a novel to buy it.

3. If its a schoolbook, we are in the middle of a semester so anyone who might need the book already has it. So there’s a possibility it won’t sell until the new semester is getting ready to start.

My fiancee has posted books and sometimes they sell within a few days, sometimes a few weeks, sometimes a couple months, sometimes not at all. Just hang in there.

What are the advantages of book launch?

It creates buzz, excitement about what is being offered.

Think about the demos in grocery stores. You try and
buy stuff you might never have thought to buy before.

What do I get someone for a book launch party?

Wow! Red Star is certainly being negative. There are a number of self-published books which, far from being vanity publications, treat on a topic of interest to a small number of people. In their appropriate market they do well, and more than return their cost of publication. In a general market they don’t do well, so most of the publishing houses are not interested. Simply because someone self publishes doesn’t mean they are necessarily indulging in vanity. It could be good, hard, business sense.

Does Love Wins book disprove the traditional teaching on hell?

May 11, 2011 - 1:18 am 7 Comments

Rob Bell has launched a new book called: "Love Wins" where he claims that the traditional view of hell, as it’s presently taught in the church, is wrong.

Is he right?
Response to William: So I guess that would be a No…

I am sorry for posting since I have not read the book, but given the premise I most likely will.

To answer your question, though, I do not need to have read the book. No book written by a man can prove or disprove anything about hell. The only reliable source we have about hell is the Holy Bible.

I do find that there is much biblical support for those who do not go to heaven "perishing" as opposed to burning in the lake of fire. The specific verses about the lake of fire in revelation are speaking to the judgement of Satan and his fallen Angels. The bible is somewhat unclear about the fate of humans that do not accept Christ in regards to their eternal residence in the lake and there are many verses that suggest that they simply perish.

John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever should believe on him shall not perish, but have everlasting life".

Even the Christian flagship verse compares eternal life with perishing. Please note, the verse does not contrast Eternal life in heaven with Eternal life in Hell.

Does this man offer Biblical support for his position in this book?

There are many referrences to "hell" in the bible, but in the original greek it is the same word as the word grave. Many verses that have already been provided to you fall into this category. If you buy a concordance, you don’t need to become fluent in greek to find these examples.

Sex and The City Movie: What did Carrie say in the launching of her book?

It’s in the end of the movie. Can somebody give me the full line?

If you mean the dedication,

"To my good friend Charlotte, the eternal optimist, who always believes in love."

Is it okay to launch a self published book just as a form of publicity?

February 27, 2011 - 7:23 pm 4 Comments

I want to self-publish my poetry book but i am also aware that self published books are not recognized. so i was thinking of organizing a book launch to serve as an introduction of myself as an author and a publicity of the book.

What’s-his-name who wrote Eragon did. He self-published then marketed, marketed, marketed his book. Read his story before you try it, though; it’s a rough road and highly unlikely that it will help you, especially since poetry isn’t popular today.

EDIT: A better way would be to submit your poetry to magazines that publish poetry like yours. Get some publishing credits under your belt, then see about getting an agent.

What are the names of all the rockets launched in the book October Sky?

I need to find all the names of the rockets that were launched in the book October Sky, but i’m too lazy to read the whole book. I also need the materials used to make the rockets, apparently the book shows what materials were used. Please answer this

Sigh… you really should read the book – it is a very fun read. (Not to mention, there are some good ’spicy’ bits that most teen readers will giggle over.)

But.. since you are too lazy…
The 34 rockets made by the boys are named Auk I through Auk XXXI

Does it matter what book is launched on the same day as the royal wedding?

http://uk.news.yahoo.com/21/20110103/tuk-mccanns-delay-madeleine-book-launch-6323e80.html

I have to say it wasn’t until I read further down the article till I got to the bit about the danger of the funds running out this year that I got a bit skeptical. could it be some PR expert has suggested it will detract from the media frenzy that is this case even if it clashes with the wedding? I think not.
comments ta whilst one is enjoying a full breakfast with black pudding.

In this case it does matter. They just don’t want to upset anyone and feel it’s in bad taste so they are launching it on another day I think it’s the right decision in their case

the Mccanns are launching a book. All proceedings are going to the Madeleine fund?

November 16, 2010 - 4:19 am 13 Comments

Or should I say their holiday and house mortgage fund.
What is next a movie???

It’s interesting that the book won’t be published until April or May next year, so it’s quite clear that the McCanns aren’t expecting any breakthroughs by then……or perhaps they know full well that Madeleine wil never be found. I reckon Sr Goncalo Amaral’s book is the one telling the real truth about Madeleine’s fate.
