Fashion designer Ritu Beri, besides fashion, also takes interest in books. So, it didn’t come as a matter of surprise when she was recently spotted at a book launch. Ritu said, “I thought this book launch is a good idea. I normally read before going to bed. So books are very important to me. At times, I ready many books at one time.” Like other designers, Ritu too is now diversifying her creativity into other things as well. Currently she is hosting a reality show and soon she will be working with the Hollywood star, Catherine Zeta Jones.Many of our desi designers take up designing for Bollywood or hotel industry. But Ritu has gone a step higher. Well, let’s hope to see Ritu successful in her new ventures.

Phoenix, the New York City native, born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, is a true humanitarian in every sense of the word. Having funded several charitable organizations and programs for children, Phoenix has volunteered his time, money and efforts for numerous worthy causes. Organizing and sponsoring a celebrity softball game, Phoenix brought together recording artists such as The Jacksons, and professional athletes from the NFL and NBL to help raise money for abused and homeless children. Phoenix donated his time to helping the Youth on the Rise Foundation, founded by former Oakland Raiders player, A.C. Caswell, helping to bring programs for the Valley of the Suns underprivileged youth. In his never-ending quest to bring happiness and joy to children, Phoenix brought celebrity performers to St. Josephs Hospital Childrens Ward to brighten the lives and spirits of the children in the hospital during the holiday season.

Phoenix also participated in and helped develop the Dreams Do Come True Foundation annual events for higher learning by coming together and joining forces with Governor of Arizona, Jane D. Hull; the Mayor of Phoenix, Skip Rimsza; and the Mayor of Los Angeles, Richard J. Riordan. The Dreams Do Come True Foundation and its programs were designed to help children learn to say no to drugs, get an education, and follow their dreams. Phoenix was awarded a special Proclamation Award from the Mayor of Los Angeles, Richard J. Riordan as well as the Mayor of Phoenix, Skip Rimsza for his success and outstanding work and dedication to the communities.

Phoenix, a former spokesperson for the Jackson family has also managed one of the famous Jackson brothers, Tito Jackson. Seeing the potential and diversity in Tito Jackson as a performer, Phoenix is responsible for helping to pioneer Titos solo career and launch him as a Blues artist. Phoenix has been interviewed by the media in news outlets around the world regarding his professional commentary and expertise on the Jackson family. Phoenix, the New York City native, born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, has been singing and dancing since a very young age. Phoenix has traveled all over the globe and his career has even expanded into the lucrative world of modeling, as he has modeled high fashion clothing for top designers such as Gianni Versace, Hermes, and Jean Paul Gaultier.

Book launch of Dr. Willie and Liza Ong’s “Survival Guide for Doctors (and non-doctors, too): To Stay or Go Abroad” at the Manila Polo Club last March 8, 2008.

Mr. Boy Abunda wrote the foreword and Dr. Enrico Banzuela is co-author. Some articles were written by Inquirer Columnist Dr. Rafael Castillo and Reader’s Digest Asia writer Mr. Henrylito Tacio.

Copies of the “Survival Guide” book were given for FREE to the Association of Philippine Medical Colleges Student Network (APMC-SN).

The book aims to help and encourage health workers to stay and serve their country, by giving study tips, career planning advice, and other information and insights.
The book is currently out-of-stock and unavailable. No plans for a second edited edition for the moment.
